Hello everyone! We are two independent studios, Crytivo and Beer Night Studio, and just yesterday, July 23rd, we released our asymmetrical 5-versus-1 horror game, Carnival Hunt, into Early Access on Steam.
We really wanted to bring fresh ideas to the genre without losing the classic elements that players love so much.
Ultimately, Carnival Hunt is still the same old game of hide-and-seek with a monster, but with some interesting twists.
We’ve added vertical gameplay
In our game, wind-up bunny dolls are on the run from the terrifying Carnival Monster. To escape the hunter, the victims will have to move up floors.
Wind-up dolls have a habit of becoming frozen forever
Yes, our characters are dolls. All of them, including the Carnival Monster! That’s why all six players in the match (five victims and one hunter) dream of getting their hands on the wind-up keys, lest they freeze mid-match like a forgotten toy!
Bunnies can find keys (and many other useful items) throughout the level, but for the Monster, hunting bunnies is a means of survival, as it’s the only way to obtain the coveted key.
Level generation from themed rooms
The third unique feature of Carnival Hunt: we don’t use fixed maps or levels, but instead create a location for each match from a set of rooms. The rooms are predetermined and handcrafted, but their combination in each match is unknown to everyone!
Bunny Town
And another unique feature that we plan to introduce to players in the final version of Carnival Hunt.
Bunny Town is a community space where players can use resources earned in matches to build a small town with their friends and other players. You can develop and decorate your corner of the city with interior and exterior items, invite friends over, and explore spaces created by other members of your community.
