oneway.exe: Module 1.0 is the first in a planned trilogy of horror-puzzle games following the story of Trio8, a trio of game devs obsessed with horror and each other. They began developing a cross-over horror game based on characters they loved from horror media from their childhood, but years into development, one of the devs murdered another. You play as the remaining third, trapped in the remains of the game you helped develop, with no memories of who you are, what happened, and what you had to do with it.
You loop through the digital decay of untitled.exe, exploring rooms dedicated to different horror characters, and then digging through the files on your desktop to put together the pieces of why your lives fell apart.
On the outside, there is a companion ARG for oneway.exe that follows a group called The Restoration Team, who is trying to archive and restore the work of Trio8 in the wake of the murder. They don’t believe the rumors about why the murder occurred, but they’re keeping their speculation to themselves. Players of the ARG can interact directly with the members of RT to learn more about their story, which will lead directly into the sequel that was just announced.
I’m not a dev for this game, but they just announced an upcoming kickstarter for Module 2.0. It’s an incredible game, and I think now is the perfect time to get into it with a sequel on the horizon! Module 1.0 is on Steam right now
