The Main Menu is a solo-developed psychological horror game built around one question: what if the main menu was the game itself?
You wake up chained to a chair in a dark room. The only thing within reach is the computer in front of you. On its screen is a corrupted main menu and changing it physically changes the room around you.
The buttons are more than navigation. Clicking QUIT might make things worse. OPTIONS can reveal systems that should not exist. Pieces of the interface can be moved, broken, powered and used to solve puzzles inside the room.
As you dig deeper into the menu, the voice inside the computer begins reacting to what you are doing and becomes increasingly determined to stop you from leaving.
The game combines point-and-click puzzles, first-person room interactions and meta-horror. It takes inspiration from games such as There Is No Game, but turns the idea into a darker, story-driven experience about escaping the room and discovering who. or what is controlling the screen.
